Manchester City Midfielder Returns to UK for Birth

England midfielder Phil Foden has left the Three Lions Euro 2024 camp in Germany and returned to the UK for the birth of his third child, a baby girl.

The 23-year-old, who made his competitive debut for Manchester City in 2017, is expected to miss England's upcoming Nations League matches against Italy and Germany.

Foden's partner, Rebecca Cooke, gave birth to the baby on Tuesday. The couple, who have been together since 2018, also have a two-year-old son, Ronnie, and a five-year-old daughter, Delilah.

Foden, who played the full 90 minutes of England's 1-1 draw with Slovenia on Tuesday, flew back to Manchester on Wednesday morning.

England manager Gareth Southgate said: "I've given Phil permission to return home for the birth of his child. It's a special moment for him and his family, and I'm sure he will want to be there for them."

Foden is expected to return to the England camp next week, ahead of the Nations League match against Italy on September 23.
