Mavs Acquire Gafford, Washington
Dallas Adds Depth at Center
The Dallas Mavericks have acquired center Daniel Gafford from the Washington Wizards in a trade that will send forward Christian Wood to Washington. The deal was announced on Friday afternoon by the Mavericks.
Versatile Addition
Gafford is a 6-foot-11 center who has averaged 9.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game this season. He is a versatile defender who can protect the rim and switch onto smaller players. He is also a good rebounder and has shown some promise as a pick-and-roll threat.
The Mavericks are hoping that Gafford can provide them with some much-needed depth at center. Wood had been struggling this season and was reportedly unhappy with his role in Dallas. Gafford is a more traditional center who can provide a physical presence in the paint.
